As we approach the festive season, it seems we are all in a rush to get everything done before the close of the business year. However, if there is one industry that can’t cut corners at this time of the year it’s transport.
According to a recent release from AUSVEG, there is currently high demand for vegetables including potatoes and carrots. AUSVEG spokesperson Shaun Lindhe explained that these items are dinner essentials for many Australians.
“While carrots and potatoes are popular all year round, consumer research from market research agency Colmar Brunton has previously indicated that around 63 per cent of consumers specifically buy carrots for meals during the festive season, while around 58 per cent buy potatoes,” he said.
“The holidays also bring out a desire for consumers to roast their veggies, with research indicating that 57 per cent of consumers roast vegetables during the festive season despite the typically warm Australian weather.”
The importance of protecting produce
Over the holiday period, demand for fresh fruit and vegetables soars in Australia, placing mounting pressure on farmers and transportation businesses to get the produce to the table. Nonetheless, the protection of said items should always be at the top of the agenda.
This is where Eco-OZCrates from Eco Pallets can be of real value to your operations and ensure that high quality produce is delivered to customers across the country. Highlighted recently in the November/December Vegetables Australia magazine, here are just three of its benefits.
1) Removable vent covers
At this time of the year, temperatures across the country can top 40 degrees (and have already this summer). As such, allowing good ventilation for the produce is a critical factor during transportation.
Our Eco-OZCrates come with removable vent covers where required. This means regardless of the application, you can ensure the quality of the produce.
2) Dropdown access gates
When time is of the essence, it is vital to have a product that is easy to both operate and handle. This is exactly what the Eco-OZCrates bring to the table. With innovative dropdown access gates, produce can be quickly packed and stored – limiting the impact on quality.
3) Curved edges
It is fair to say that Australia’s roads aren’t always that smoothest and this can cause damage to small produce such as carrots and potatoes. To combat this issue, our Eco-OZCrates are designed with curved edges to prevent damage and bruising.
